Introduction
Low Carbon Essentials is the access point to all ‘Improve your Resource Efficiency’ (IYRE) products and services in the South East and is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
By accessing one of the many Low Carbon Essentials specialist services available you will automatically qualify for Low Carbon Essentials network membership. This will enable you to receive high quality professional advice and support from one of our Low Carbon Advisers; the opportunity to network with others in likewise industries; receive information regarding opportunities to attend free workshops and seminars as well as an abundance of information that may be useful to your organisation.
Aims and Objectives
Low Carbon Essentials has a dedicated Regional Helpline run by a team of Low Carbon Business Experts that provides a First Point of Contact for IYRE services in the South East. More specifically, the helpline will:
- Help businesses with basic queries such as where to recycle particular materials or how to write an environmental policy;
- Link businesses to an intelligent network of businesses receiving regular updates on environmental legislation, low carbon business developments and invitations to business networking opportunities;
- Provide one-to-one support to businesses wanting to improve their environmental credentials or sell environmental products and services, guiding them through the process;
- Obtain more intensive support for high resource business users including:
- Smart meters and grants for energy efficiency measures;
- full environmental audits; or
- assessments for generating energy from renewables (the criteria for eligibility for these services will be available on 1st January 2011); - Broker them to all other IYRE services in the South East relevant to their needs including:
- Free sustainable design advice
- Carbon footprinting online
- Travel advice to cut costs and carbon
- Using Sustainable building materials
- Making money from renewable energy
Are you eligible?
To benefit from the Low Carbon Essentials project your organisation must be a Small or Medium Enterprise (SME) and certain eligibility criteria must be met. These are:
- Have less than 250 employees.
- Have a maximum turnover of 50million Euros.
- Have a maximum annual balance sheet total of 43million Euros.
- No more than 25% controlled by another company that is not an SME.
